Cafe Supervisor

How long have you been at Lily & Lime?

I have been with Lily & Lime for 7 years now.

What have you learned while working here?

I am a cafe supervisor / support worker in the view cafe in the civic offices, I enjoy my role as each day is different to the next and the people we support are all different and unique in their own ways, working with each of them makes each day different and enjoyable.  

 What’s your favourite item on the menu?

My favourite drink is a hazelnut latte and my favourite thing to eat is the Brie & Chilli Jam panini. 

What are you excited to learn about next?

I don’t know what the future holds for me but I’m always willing to try new roles and different adventures if given the opportunity in the future, however I don’t see myself leaving the trust just yet.

I have been with Lily and Lime since 2019 and have worked with the Minstead Trust since 2021.

What have you learned while working here?

I am a cafe supervisor/support worker in the Lily and Lime library cafe. I enjoy my role as each day is different and the people we support never fail to surprise me and keep me on my toes.

What’s your favourite item on the menu?

My favourite thing to eat is cheese and bacon turnovers. I also really enjoy the Smartie cake with a cup of tea.

What are you excited to learn about next?

I would like to learn sign language or Makaton.

Regional Director of Care

How long have you been at Lily & Lime?

I was part of the takeover with Lily & Lime and Minstead Trust and have worked with Lily & Lime since  2021.

What have you learned while working here?

I am the Regional Director for Portsmouth services, part of the Senior Leadership Team – I love working in Portsmouth as I get to see the people we support genuinely working in a real workplace, learning and developing and growing both professionally and personally.

 What’s your favourite item on the menu?

I like all the food – especially the Cheese and Bacon turnovers. I have ordered several celebration cakes and didn’t like Fudge before I tasted the homemade Fudge they make – it’s delicious.

What are you excited to learn about next?

We are planning to take over the world, supporting more people in more areas to learn and develop their skills and show their love for work to the world and be part of the bigger picture, breaking down barriers in society.

Senior Support Worker

I have worked for Lily and Lime in The View since February, before this I was with Minstead Trust at the Portsmouth Day Opportunities for 8 years. I came to lily and Lime to cover for a couple of weeks but never left. I really enjoy working and supporting in the cafe and the guys that we support are all different and are brilliant to work with. It is a very welcoming environment in many respects, and I’m grateful that I made the change.

I have two grown up children and five grandchildren and a cat called Lucifer.

Volunteer

My favourite drink is a cup of tea and the toasties are very tasty. I like being in the kitchen with the service users making all the cakes. I just love being here, all the staff are lovely and I love supporting the people who come here. It boosts my morale.

What have you learned while working here?

I have learned how to food prep and how to make drinks. I completed my apprenticeship and now help train other people as a paid member of the team.

I like to make biscoff cake. My favourite toasite is ham & cheese.

What are you excited to learn about next?

I would like to learn to make the soup we sell in The View Cafe.

I have learned how to make new drinks. I have learned customer service and to use the till.

I like to eat the victoria sponge. It is my favourite cake.

What are you excited to learn about next?

I want to work in The View and learn new things in the other cafe. I want to learn to make lattes and cappuccinos

I have learned lots of things since being here. I have learned lots of skills.

I like eating the jacket potatoes with cheese.

I’m excited to start baking, especially the Victoria Sponge.

What have you learned while working here?

I completed my apprenticeship. I have also leaned how to communicate better and work better in a team. I can also make all the drinks and do food prep. I am now a paid member of the team.

 What’s your favourite item on the menu?

I like making a mocha. My favourite cake is the biscoff cake.

What are you excited to learn about next?

I would like to learn how to make the soups and other hot food like chilli.

I have learned that I can do more things than I expected. I can deal with more responsibility if it is given to me gradually. I completed my apprenticeship and am now a paid member of the team.

My favourite cupcake is the Ferrero Roche which we make at Christmas.

What are you excited to learn about next?

I would like to learn sign language and Makaton.

How to make coffees, team work, how to use a dishwasher, till work. Improved my skills with cooking and baking.

 What’s your favourite item on the menu?

My favourite thing to eat is the jacket potato with beans as it is the vegan option. 

What are you excited to learn about next?

There is nothing in particular that I would like to learn I just want to improve my skills.
